initial consultation

This session serves the professional clarification and preparation of a collaboration within the framework of outpatient psychotherapy or counseling & coaching. Both service areas are offered on an equal basis and differ in terms of objectives, legal framework and indication.

The session enables a structured assessment of the concern, an initial diagnostic or counseling-related classification as well as a professionally justified recommendation for further procedure.

The initial consultation lasts 50 minutes and provides an initial overview of the current stress situation, willingness to change and the fit between concern and offer.

For concerns within the framework of psychotherapy, it serves among other things to assess whether psychotherapeutic treatment is indicated, whether a behavioral therapeutic approach appears suitable, and whether a sustainable collaboration can be established.

Also for concerns within the framework of counseling & coaching, direction of goals, motivation and willingness to cooperate are reflected upon together.

A prerequisite for any form of collaboration is a high motivation for change and work as well as the willingness to carry out the entire development work independently.

The practice offers structured, professional support for this – the actual change takes place in everyday life.

The following content is bindingly repeated orally in the session after the interested party has made contact via the inquiry form on the website and subsequently received the registration form by email, read it, signed it electronically and returned it to the practice:

Duty to inform:

  • mutual data protection and confidentiality, fee according to GOÄ or private contract, self-payment in all cases, cancellation fee for short-notice cancellation or non-appearance, communication rules (for example email exclusively for organizational purposes, no therapeutic or personal content), legal distinction between psychotherapy and counseling & coaching, reference to the structured working method with goal orientation, binding process work and tasks between sessions
  • Exclusion of acute crises: In case of acute danger to self or others, outpatient psychotherapeutic care is not possible in this practice. In such cases, a medical emergency department or psychiatric clinic must be consulted instead
  • First impressions for a diagnostic assessment in case of psychotherapeutic need: Assessment of current complaints and stress factors, orientating assessment according to ICD to determine a possible indication for psychotherapy
  • Clarification of concerns in counseling & coaching: Structured recording of personal, professional and interpersonal topics without disease value, with the aim of a joint assessment of objectives, working method and willingness to change and active process engagement
  • Care orientation: Information about psychotherapy as well as about counseling & coaching, recommendation of suitable offers or references to further possibilities in the absence of indication

This session is not a treatment, but the entry into a structured, work-related clarification and collaboration.
